The land of harmony

The eternal Francigena route

The Via Francigena is the historical itinerary leading to Rome from Canterbury, a major route which in the past was used by thousands of pilgrims on their way to Rome. It’s strange to know that our offices are placed just on this ancient route . Beside is the Florence-Siena highway and the ancient roman “Cassia” road that allows us to
reach our mechanical workshop, as well as the beautiful Monteriggioni town.

A Crossroads of people, things and feelings

The anthropological aspect of this land is of no small importance, given that Val d’Elsa is essentially a crossroads for people, things and sensations. The entire history of this land of contradictions has travelled down its roads and been influenced by them. The strategic importance of Val d’Elsa lies precisely in its position. It leads to the sea,
to the capital of Christianity, and acts as an artery between Florence and Siena. It burgeoned thanks to the old Francigena road that gave rise to the splendour of San Gimignano and owes its current productivity in a sustainable economy based on harmonious, ongoing manufacture to the exchange that this crossroads provides. This land has a vocation to produce culture and a culture of production. The first socialized health insurance funds were born here, while this was the first area in Tuscany to form a united labour class and an industrial bourgeois class who created demand for theatres (including the renowned Teatro dei Varii in Colle Val d’Elsa), libraries, elegant dwellings. By endowing this land with knowledge, they created an appreciation of beauty and practicality. Today this aspiration to harmony between man and his surroundings has enriched the territory with contemporary art initiatives.
